Weiqiu Chen is the Qiushi Distinguished Professor at the Department of Engineering Mechanics, Zhejiang University. He received his BS and PhD degrees from Zhejiang University in 1990 and 1996, respectively. He had been working as a postdoctoral research associate at The University of Tokyo (1997-1999). After his return to Zhejiang University in March 1999, he was promoted to be an associate professor in July 1999 and a full professor in December 2000. He has engaged himself in mechanics of smart materials/structures, mechanics of soft materials and structures, and vibration/waves in structures for nearly thirty years. He has co-authored over 450 peer-reviewed journal articles and three English books on elasticity of transversely isotropic materials, piezoelectricity, and Green’s functions, respectively. He now serves as the editorial member (or associate editor or associate editor-in-chief) of more than a dozen of academic journals including Journal of Zhejiang University – SCIENCE A, International Journal of Mechanical Sciences, Mechanics of Advanced Materials and Structures, Journal of Thermal Stresses, Composite Structures, Engineering Structures, Acta Mechanica Solida Sinica, and Applied Mathematics and Mechanics (English Edition).
